This is an assignment for a Family Therapy class for a Master of Social Work assignment. Please complete a PowerPoint slide and construct a genogram to explain a family’s presenting problem. The assessment tools (e.g. genogram.) will be used to identify the family’s interactive patterns. Also please include slide notes for presentation. The family information is listed below: James: Age/Gender: 17, Male Involved Family: Single Mother with no family support Statement of Problem: School failure and truancy, drug use, general disregard for moms rules. James is 17 and still in the ninth grade. Mom is at the end of her rope. Strengths: Funny, social, well-liked by peers, strong parenting team, loving family. When Mrs. Jackson requested help from the court system for her son James, 17 years old and still in the ninth grade, she was very concerned about his truancy, missing curfew, disrespecting her at home, and involvement with drugs. Mrs. Jackson was a single parent with no family support. Two years prior to starting therapy she had a stroke and had been unemployed since then. On the positive side, Mrs. Jackson was very involved in her church as well as in volunteer activities, and these connections helped sustain her.
