3) Question 3. 250 words.
While some neighbors were finishing a late-night dinner on the patio, a man wearing a ski mask jumped out of the bushes. He was carrying a gun, which was visible to all, and demanded money. He threatened to start shooting people if they refused to comply with his demands. Then, seeing chicken wings on the table, the robber exclaimed, “Oh, boy! Wings! I love me some wings!!” The robber then removed his ski mask and began eating chicken. After eating several wings, he complimented the cook, saying the wings were some of the best he had ever had. He and the chef began discussing recipes for barbecue sauce. The neighbors offered the robber more food–encouraging him to eat–and soon he put his gun away. Eventually, he apologized and told the group that he had come to the wrong house. The robber then left without stealing anything or hurting anyone.

According to the MPC, did the robber commit a crime? if so, which one? Can he argue successfully that he abandoned his criminal activity before a crime was committed? Are there other defenses that might apply?
