E-Cigarettes and THC cartridges are now one of the highest bought cannabis and tobacco products on the market and there is approximately 20% of the total population who smoke (roughly 1.5 billion people). When vaping was introduced in the early 2000s, it was advertised to help decrease smoking habits in a safe and cost efficient manner. Vaping consists of 4 major ingredients including; water, nicotine, flavoring, and propylene glycol or vegetable glycerin base. As for vaping cannabis, these products only consist of two simple ingredients; THC and water. Yet, over the last 6 months, there has been a high intensity of those who consume these products and are placed in hospital due to lung related issues. The overall body count for those who were in the hospital and treated, according to https://tobaccofreeca.com/e-cigarettes/vapeoutbreak/, has equaled a total amount of 2,291. As for the deaths related to the products and illnesses equals total amount 49, this is strictly in the United States. Moving forward, the FDA and CDC needed to understand why these illnesses were occurring, later to find out there is an additive ingredient that should not be in the vaping and THC products. This additive ingredient, known as Vitamin E Acetate, is an ingredient that must be heated to a certain degree for it to vaporize, although once this ingredient reaches the lungs the smoke begins to cool due to not being vaporized at a consistent degree, leaving the Vitamin E Acetate to liquify and coat the lungs. This ingredient is what causes the consumer to get sick and possibly die. After the discovery of this ingredient the Trump Administration announced they were going to implement a ban on all vaping products, but later renounced the ban until further research was completed. Despite the fact, there has been a total of 6 states who have banned flavored vaping (Michigan, New York, Rhode Island, Montana, Washington, and Oregon), one state that has a 4 month ban on all products (Massacucettes), and finally one county that has banned all forms of vaping products (Los Angeles County).
