Write your five page (2500 word) paper using your position/thesis statement outlined below. A minimum of eight (8) images must also be used to support your argument.
Requirement:
1. Choose a fashion style/silhouette that you responded to most strongly, either positively or negatively. (This should be pre-19th century)
2. Think about why you responded (favorably or unfavorably) and write your position statement which summarizes the design/s you are reacting to and the reasons to support your point of view.
For example:
The introduction of the corset and what it says about the inequality of women during the Renaissance. My thesis statement/argument might be that it limited their participation in many social activities on purpose … men didn’t want women to join hunting parties, playing sports, etc.. The corset created the notion that women were delicate, eat like birds, and the forced silhoutte sexualized them because the chest was thrust out of the neckline and the waist was cinched.
