Response Paper
From our Blackboard account, choose (1) one of the readings assigned after the distribution of the midterm. Choose from Blackboard any of those texts that appear after the midterm announcement. This does not include the newspaper articles!!
Try to summarize the text globally. In other words, strive to provide a sense of its overall argument and/or principal arguments. This does not mean reproducing these arguments exactly. Instead you should provide your own impression of what that argument is. This means relying on your own voice, or prose, as much as possible. It must be a substantiated impression though, so your claims have to be accompanied by the page numbers where the supporting passages appear.
Remember that the goal here is to prove that you read the text the closely. To that end, indicate the corroborative page numbers for every claim you make about it. This applies to the use of exact phrases, clauses and sentences from the text. Any prose copied from the text, without exception, must be marked within quotation marks. Avoid the use of any other sources: websites, Wikipedia, etc.
For this exercise, block citations are not allowed. If you are using direct quotes from the text, they should not exceed two lines.
You should insure that the essay is a minimum of two (2) pages in length, double spaced, and written in Times New Roman Font, 12pt. The margins cannot exceed an inch. Plagiarism of any sort will not be tolerated.
