Leader Evaluation Report

Each student will select a leader on which to write a report. Since you must use at least 10 references in writing this paper, it is strongly recommended that you choose some individual on whom there exists a large amount published information. The leader in question need not be a business leader, but can come from virtually field or background (e.g., politics, religion, athletics, military, philosophy, science, business, etc.).
1. The clear focus of this paper will be on the leadership attributes of the selected individual. A word of caution here. Students often get lost in this assignment and turn it into a biographical sketch. This assignment is an in-depth discussion and analysis of the leadership characteristics of an individual. Biographical and other similar material should be kept to a minimum, and should only be used to lend some coherency to the paper.
2. A sizeable portion of the paper should be dedicated to “making a case” for the leadership attributes of your subject. It is expected that much of what you learn from this semesters reading material in terms of leadership vocabulary and concepts, research, anecdotes, etc. will find their way into your paper. Through your paper, you should clearly communicate that you’re a serious student of leadership; familiar with good leadership principles.
3. You should also include some information in your paper on how your subject, although generally a good leader, exhibited poor leadership on occasion.
4. A minimum of 10 references should be used.
5. Papers should include footnotes, endnotes or any other accepted citation format. Plagiarism will not be tolerated, and if detected, will result in a score of zero.
6. The report should be typed, double-spaced, and approximately 10 pages in length. Grammatical correctness and neatness are important on all written assignments, as are content and presentation. The paper will be submitted to Canvas on the assigned date.
