Do you agree with Ariely that most college students think cheating is acceptable, even virtuous in some circumstances? (See the link to Why We Lie under Essay 3 in NS Online.) In your experiences, what are the reasons college students engage in cheating in school? You may also choose to ask students on campus their opinions and experiences.

In the article Beyond Simple Participation on page 395, Table 2, which of these statements describes your engagement in this assignment and/or this course in general? Beside each statement, you will see a Corresponding Engagement Level. Next, in Table 1, read the description of each level of engagement. (See handout, including the Works Cited entry on the last page.) Do you agree with this description of your engagement as a college student in general or just in this particular course? Why or why not? Give details using your own experiences, attitudes, and beliefs.

Is cheating more likely with students experiencing some of these levels of engagement? Why or why not? Explain.
