After reading the book(PDF file), please briefly summarize chapter 17.Book summary, mainly I have to talk about my own idea(opinion) about the book(story). Also, when I wrote down the summary or idea I need a brief quotation (page number of the book)–very importantThis is my part of my chapter 7 HW. you can see how I present my own idea.(I forgot to write a quotation)The chapter “The Chinese Must Go: The Anti-Chinese Movement” talks about the discrimination faced by the Chinese during the 18th and 19th centuries in America. After reading this chapter, personally, it is tough to judge which side’s fault is greater. For the Americans, especially Caucasians, I think it is a normal way to react to the foreigner in advance to protect their land and rights. From the White American’s viewpoint, the Chinese posed an economic danger and were bringing harmful things to their land. The Chinese worked at lower wages than the Whites and could also provide labor in larger numbers than the Whites. Therefore, the presence of the Chinese would have been a threat to the Whites. Also, the book says, “Chinese immigrants were accused of bringing to the United States things such as drug use, prostitution, and gang activity.”
