Choose one of the following essay questions. Answer that question in the form of an
essay that is between 1250 and 1500 words in length. Essays longer or shorter than that
risk being penalized.

Be sure to back up your analysis with specific references to the book. You can use short
quotations from the source to help demonstrate or support your analysis.

You may also cite or quote other course readings or lectures to support your analysis.
5.
You may do additional research if you choose but that is not necessary for an excellent
grade. You should focus on the book itself as a primary source and try to place it in its
historical context.

Your work will be graded on the quality, originality and sophistication of your analysis
but also on writing style, grammar and punctuation. See the grading rubric on
