select a text. Really, any text. A film, a piece of art, a television program, an album, a building, a park, even one of those book things if you really want.

Here it is, the biggie. It’s time to show that you understand the rhetorical concepts that we’ve worked on in this class and how to apply them.

You are to select a text. Really, any text. A film, a piece of art, a television program, an album, a building, a park, even one of those book things if you really want.

Then go through the suite of rhetorical tools related to that text and how they influence the way we perceive the text. These are going to vary depending on the type of text you select, but elements to consider include the signs and artifacts that it is a part of/are part of it, the text and its relationship to its context, the symbolism involved, how the audience uses the text, how the text changes over time, and what the text ultimately means.

You should make use of outside sources on this one as well, and make sure to include a bibliography of your work. This is a minimum of 10 pages, something that shouldn’t be a problem with all of the tools you can bring to this assignment.
