Income Distribution? Inequality

1. Find an article: You are required to find an article in the current business press (no earlier than September, 2017) that discusses or uses one or more aspect(s) of micro economics that we cover in class. By the business press, I mean the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Financial Times, Economist, Business Week, Harvard Business Review, or Forbes. If you want to use an article from any other publication, see me first. Note: the business press does not include USA Today, The New York Post, The Daily News, etc. The article, or some part of it, must be related to the material we cover in class. For example, the article may discuss supply and demand, elasticity (for example short term moves in gas prices), scarcity, impact of price changes in one product supply on complementary or substitute goods (impact of higher gas prices on food prices), etc. 2. Write a paper: The paper is to be two to three pages, double spaced and is to contain the following four parts: a. 1/3 to to page summary of the article b. A list of the topics covered in this class that appear in the article which shouldnt be more than one to four lines of text c. An analysis of the article. This may include i. a discussion of whether the story agrees with what you have learned about micro-economics in this class and in what respects, ii. a more in depth description of the writers point (note: more in depth than the original article, not just more in depth than your summary), iii. A discussion of how a law, government decree, industry practice (accounting rule, for example) affects the economic outcomes in the article, iv. Some other analysis. d. A conclusion of one to three sentences The paper must be organized in these four sections and the title of each section be, or at least include, the words Summary, Micro-economic Topics, either Analysis or Discussion, and Conclusion. If your paper doesnt conform to these criteria, you will receive a zero on this pape
