This is an individual project requiring you to work independently. Your task is to come up with an environmental pollution issue and pose a research question or two to address the problem. Local environmental topics such as drought, air pollution, solid and hazardous waste, and water quality problems would be preferred. The problem must follow one of the pollution sources that you will have studied throughout the semester and analyze the basic science behind it, understand human-environmental interaction, and come up with sound strategy to mitigate the issue. The project title must be approved by your professor. Your assignment will include researching the issue via scholarly publications, reports, government documents, and perhaps interviews with experts in the field, analyze the problem, and present your findings with viable solutions and recommendations. The whole purpose of this exercise is to stimulate your critical thinking beyond classroom and engage you in a lively debate of environmental issue. This will also help you to broaden your research skills.
