For this essay, you will write about a specific place and time in which a major change happened. This change may be cultural, political, social, artistic, or a scientific change. You will examine how the specific change impacted a certain aspect of the culture. For example, the sample essay that is online is about how our music changed after the Iranian Revolution. If I were writing this essay, I might write about how the invention of electricity changed European theatres in the 19th century, which led to the creation of realism. The essay must: Include at least 1000 words Be in third person (never use I, me, you, we, us) Include an introduction that gives back ground on the subject. Present a thesis at the end on the introduction paragraph (last sentence) Have a thesis that makes a claim. Have at least three body paragraphs. Body paragraphs with clear topic. Body paragraphs that are well-developed/at least seven sentences Body paragraphs that give details and examples to prove the thesis Body paragraphs with final sentences that relate back to the thesis. Have two quotes OR one quote and one paraphrase in each body paragraph. Have concluding paragraph. Include at least four sources on the Works Cited page AND in the essay. All sources should be quoted or paraphrased at least once. Include in-text citations AND a Works Cited page. Not include block quotes. Include clear wording, varying sentence structure, and correct grammar.
