RESEARCH REPORT – 15% Choose ONE of the following topics to write your research report:
1. Divorce rates are higher than ever before. Discuss the reasons and impacts of this problem considering some of the socio-cultural and economic aspects. Suggest solutions to prevent the numbers from rising.
2. All around the world, animals are kept in captivity, such as in zoos. What are the main arguments for and against zoos? How do they compare with leaving animals in their natural environment? Give specific, real world examples to support your arguments.
3. Consider the role of tourism to promote UAE heritage sites as conservation projects. What are the arguments for and against conservation tourism? Suggest recommendations to promote tourism at such heritage sites. Give specific, real UAE examples to support your arguments.
4. Over recent years, eating disorders among young people have increased, causing sometimes fatal consequences. What are some of the causes, effects, and solutions to this problem?
5. More and more people are going for plastic and cosmetic surgeries to change their looks. What are the reasons for this, and what are the effects on both individuals and society? What is your opinion about this growing trend?
6. Due to more women joining the workforce, many families rely on nannies to take care of their children. What are the advantages and disadvantages to this emerging social trend? Discuss some possible solutions to overcome the challenges.
7. Although students choose to pursue a college education, some institutions still face the challenge of poor student behavior such as high absence rates, cheating and a lack of motivation. Discuss the reasons for this problem and consider possible ways of dealing with this issue.
8. Nowadays, technology is used all around the world by people of all ages. Discuss the impacts of technology on our lives and highlight its pros and cons. Suggest ways of reducing the negative effects of technology.

You must select at least 3 sources relevant to your chosen topic and create a reference page using APA format. Ensure your sources are reliable. Wikipedia will not be accepted. Submit the reference page to your teacher prior to the assessment.
For the report, you must use AT LEAST two sources (bring them to the assessment). Using in-text citations, you must incorporate two direct AND two indirect quotes using BOTH sources in your report (with a total of 4 citations). These should be followed by your personal opinions or comments. Submit all citations to your teacher prior to the assessment.
Remember, if the information originated from one of your sources and not from you, you need to either quote it or paraphrase it AND cite it accordingly, otherwise it is considered plagiarized.
Write a one-page outline as your notes (no sentences or paragraphs) which needs to be preapproved by your teacher and will be returned to you on the day of assessment. You will use these notes and your sources to write a report of 500-700 words
