Write an essay completing the three steps below. Make sure your essay is based on studying the assigned lectures on Blackboard in the Progressivism folder and the American Founding folder. Do not consult the internet or other sources. Show your mind working i.e., your understanding based on the assigned lectures. Do not simply copy my entire sentences. Do not number your paragraphs. 1) Study the lecture on the Constitution in the American Founding folder. Write at least two paragraphs explaining how the U.S. Constitution addresses the issues of a) rights, b) private property, and c) the power of the majority. 2) Study the lectures on Progressivism in the Progressivism folder. Write at least two paragraphs explaining how Progressivism addresses the same three issues of a) rights, b) private property, and c) the power of the majority. Keep in mind, your job is to show your mind working to show you understand the information you discuss. Do not just list points quickly or refer to information in passing. Develop and explain the points you make. Make it clear to me that you understand. When you get to step 2 you can compare as you explain. Consider sentences like: Similar to the Constitution, Progressivism states.. Or, Unlike the Constitution, the Progressive ideology indicates. A writer often expresses his/her own understanding best when comparing two or more things. 3) Write at least two paragraphs explaining what kind of society you would prefer to live in one governed by the principles of the Constitution or one governed by the principles of Progressivism. Again, do not just list a point or two in passing. Develop your points by explaining why you think living under one set of principles would be better than living under the other set of principles.
