The summary is a short description of the source. What is the topic or subject? What is argument or claim? What evidence does the author use? In other words, what sources do they draw from to build a case for their argument or the point they want to make? The assessment is where you critically examine the source. Here you take the description and evaluate how effectively the author proves his or her main point. Does the evidence support the conclusion? Is it a strong argument? Provide solid evidence to back it up.
