Please be sure to address every question on the personal statement and state of purpose essays. I would like them to come from the perspective of someone that has been in the music industry over 30 years before returning back to school as a non-traditional student and receiving a BA and Master’s degree in African American Studies with a specialization in History. I goal is to get my PhD in higher education and teach in higher education bringing the history of music and my personal experience to my history courses. I will include two articles of scholars that advocate this and implement this in their own work. I would also like for my writer to quote from W.E.B DuBois on the importance of liberal arts in the classroom as well as Paulo Freire from Pedagogy of the oppressed. It is crucial that this be addressed in both essays.
