Write a mini research paper based on close analysis of a key passage from the Mahabharata excerpts from chapter 2 (The Friendly Dice Game). Your primary source is the text of the Mahabharata. Your secondary sources should include at least one physical book and one scholarly article found on either Project Muse or JSTOR. The argument of your essay should be developed from your research and should be organized around close analysis of your key passage. Writing your essay. Having researched the topic using your sources, you should refine your original research question to develop a thesis (the answer to your research question; or, perhaps, another version of the question itself). As you do this, be sure to return to the specific passage you used as the starting-point of your research. The research you have done may help explain something that was not clear in that passage; or, better still, your original passage may illuminate something important about what your sources are claiming. Either way, as you complete this research project, you should be sure to keep returning to your key passage. The finished essay must include: *at least two references to secondary sources (and make sure you quote from each source) *at least one secondary source accessed through the Walsh library databases (either Project Muse or JSTOR) *at least one secondary source should be from a physical book found in the Walsh library. *close analysis of a passage from your primary source (and make sure you quote directly from the passage, paying close attention to particular tropes) *clear thesis statement *Works Cited page *well-chosen title
