Part 3: Recent Disaster Activity You will choose a recent disaster beyond your own community (examples: the Ebola crisis, Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Sandy, tornados in Oklahoma, Tsunami in Japan, homeless persons displacement in Boston, flooding in Colorado, wildfires in California). Research must include news sources, scholarly articles, and/or conducting interviews, as well as what systems were in place to handle this disaster. Write a 3-5 page paper, discussing the following: Were they adequate? What systems/measures were effective and what was not effective? Have they come up with new emergency preparedness planning since the disaster? What resources are needed to effectively manage a crisis of the same proportion? What are some roles that nurses had in the intervention efforts?
