Then go to Google and search “Images” of both “Apostle Paul” and “Saint Paul” and respond to the following questions:What do you see in the portrayals of Paul in icons and paintings? What are some characteristic features of the images? What are his facial features, expressions, and/or postures? What is he doing in the pictures? What symbols or features accompany Paul in the images? What might their significance be?How do these images compare with your own ways of imagining Paul coming into the course? Is there a difference between the way Paul is depicted in images under “Apostle” and those under “Saint”? If so, what are some of these differences? How much do you think the portrayals of Paul represent his own first-century context and how much do they represent the time period in which the artist composed them? Why might artists depict Paul in particular ways during particular periods of history? Why is this important? If there are particular features or symbols that strike you, consider doing a search to find out what they might signify and then discuss them. What is missing that you would have expected to see, or see more of? Why? Explain.
